Part A aND b

So to recap my desire was a new case to put my books in because the one that came with the books was garbage and flimsy. So here’s the measurements of the books:

One of the problems with the original case was it was too tight, and it was very difficult to pull the books out or put them back in. So with this case the measurements I made are: 9 centimeters wide (almost an extra centimeter of space), 22 centimeters tall (again almost an extra centimeter of space, not that it’s super important since it’s an open top), and with a 15 centimeter depth.

There were a few things I decided to add to the original book case design.

I added a cover that can slot into the front of the book case. It has a hole so it’s easier to pull out and it is only 2mm less wide than the case, so friction should hold it well. If I printed it I would probably have to sand it down to make sure it fits well.

This image ^^^ shows the three other elements I added. I added a grove for the cover at the bottom of the case.

I added a section on the right side of the case which does two things, there’s a circular grove so I can store a drink while I’m reading, and there’s a spot for a highlighter because I like to highlight important parts of the books I read.

I would say forgive the dust on the counter but your room is a mess so I feel like I don’t need to say anything.

But anyway, you can see how it would be set up. I can grab a book, lay a drink on the cupholder, and laydown to read, grabbing the highlighter and my cup as I please. When I finish reading I can stand up, put the book back, and put the cover on.

So overall it was fun to make this. I was frustrated at first making the cupholder. Rather than being a square that sticks out with a circular indent, I wanted it to be just a circle that comes out of the case. I think I could have done that if I tried to sketch the circle on it, cut the rest out and then I can push the circle towards the case. But it doesn’t matter because I realized if it’s a square I can add some more space for my highlighter.
